Winter clean heating plans in northern regions
It was pointed out in 2019 Action Plan for Defending Blue Skies in Beijing that the coal-to-gas switch will be progressed in 2019. Led by Beijing Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the winter clean heating scheme will cover Winter Paralympics Games Areas in Yanqing district and villages surrounding the horticultural exhibition venue.
In 2018, Tianjin has seen notable progress in combating air pollution as coal to gas switching plan has covered 238,000 households, the annual average PM2.5 concentration reached 52 micrograms per cubic meter, down by 16.1 percent and number of heavy pollution days has reduced by 13. Tianjin braces for buiding itself into a liviable city.
In 2018, the winter heating reform has covered over 1.8 million households in Hebei province. The provincial government will promote the clean coal technology in efforts to win the battle for blue sky and improve ecological environment.
Coal-to-electricity swith for winter heating efforts will be focused on rural areas. The regulation on sources of pollution will be strengthened, especially on the ban of coal-fired boilers.
The local government aims to win the battle for replacing scattered coals with clean energy by promoting the winter clean heating reform, consuming less coals and improving energy utilization efficiency. In 2018, Xingtai was designated as one of the pilot zones that have been funded in winter clean heating reform. A newly-added number of 160,000 households have been included in this reform in the same year, and over 240,000 household in 2019.
In 2018, nearly 300,000 households have been converted from coal to gas, and as a result, this city has seen great improvement in air quality. In 2019, 550,000 households are expected to be benefited from the reform.
